The Practical Session: We did some filming between Natalie and me. David helped in as he read out the questions for us. After that we import our videos and then David showed us how to work on them, here I meant editing. He tried his best to make us understand the concept of good film editing. In return, we tried our best to impress him that we have well mastered the skill.

What I liked Most: Is that we worked well together  and there was some bit of fun here and there.

What I did not like most? Prolonged delays of mobile phone top ups and bus fares because these are essential valuables that are needed for our project to move swiftly but unfortunately it seems no one is noticing these things. On Monday the 20 of April, I had to walk from my house to the Broughton Trust Building. It took me twenty minutes  to reach the place and the rains were pouring down on me as I walk. Some where I f elt like I have been let down when I am sacrifice my time and energy to make this project successful.

Suggestions: First, we want our mentors to take an immediate action if we need an urgent help and not to take things as personal or  to procrastinate. Second, we thought the sponsors of this project should introduce better incentives if they want more community reporters to flock in because recently we had two major drop outs and it is already affecting the aims and the goal of this project. If they could introduce a package of amount after fnishinig the course.

She is a community development worker and she works with various community groups in Broughton. The program being funded by Contour Housing Association. There are times when she addresses issues that are bothering the residents especially on crime. She becomes the mediator between the council residents and the greater Manchester police force.

Her main role about activities with children in Broughton and she recognises that there are few spaces for children’s playing grounds. She explains about the poor service in the community for example the lack of shops and the unavailability of buses to different places such as Swinton and Salford Precint. “Some buses come hourly and sometimes I had to walk half an hour to take a bus that goes to the Salford Precinct”, said Val

The Practional Section: Our practical section started with a boring technical problem. Stan’s computer was completely distorted. It could not work. As a result we spent a lot time trying to generate ideas that could make the computer work but unfortunately none of us had the knowledge to sort out the problem. So we decided to call someone from David’s office to chip in but alas no-one was there to resolve the technical problem. In the end, one of the Talk Broughton workers decided to lend us one of their computers.

Then, David asked us what we wanted to learn at that particular time. We told him we wanted to learn about video editing. He practically told us how we should do it and  he went further asking us to compile  a list of questions before we film and interview each other .  It went well. He assisted us to download the movie maker program and demonstrated once more how to play around with the video  clips.  We put everything into practice.  It was exciting but personally, I found it very difficult that I thought to have more sessions with Mick before I boosted my confidence.

What I did not enjoy most?: I did not enjoy spending so much time on a computer technical problem although it was  a way of helping one another as a team. I call it the (Spirit Team).

What I liked most?: David demonstrating how to do the video editing. It was fascinating and I liked the way he played around the video clips showing his excellence in that subject. It was just perfect to watch him and I can’t wait to see us completing the video editing. It is going to be fun to watch the film.

Suggestions: David decided to carry Stan’s computer to his office so that someone in his office who would work out the technical problem. Try to make our small movies as a way of practicing good film making.

The practical session:The past weeks we have been interviewing different groups of  people ranging from different organisations to individuals. It was an exciting period and majority of people were willingly to share their thoughts with us.  We found out that the Broughton population  appreciated some major changes that have taken in their places in  terms of development but they were a few individuals who were much concerned about  the playing spaces for their children.  They felt that there was no much of ground space and their young children could find themselves doing some illegal stuff out of frustration. Therefore, they urged the council to rethink before they construct any building on a  playing ground.During the period, we  met some people who were camera shy. Some people lacked self belief that they can not do some interviews but the good thing about them is that they had always pointed to someone whom they think the person was able to make some interviews with us  within their group or organisation. Most the time it worked well.

What I did not enjoy most: Met a few individual people on different occasions who were utterly rude and disrespectful. On one occasion we visited a place where arrangements has been made already but on our arrival we were turned down but told to come the following week.  I  also did not like the delay on the mobile top ups and I felt a bit of backward in terms of arranging interviews.

What I did like most: Is the progression of our early suggestions that we should have laptops at our homes  and that suggestions were met with  open hands and as I am  writing now, I am just doing work at home using the laptop that we have been given today. It also means we can work freely and maximize our free time while doing the work that is required to be covered.  I also appreciated the way we are sharing our resources and that there is fluency of on going interviews per each week.  It shows that we are a dedicated team and we are determined to accomplish our goals.

Suggestions: Personally, I have suggested that it could be wise if we  write a notice in advance especially in areas where  we do our drop ins such as the library or the medical center, so that the people would  have the background of us and knowing that they are likely to meet us on a particular day. It won’t come as a surprise but it would help individuals who are willingly to give their own personal thoughts concerning the area they live, to come up front with the intention of meeting us on that specified day.

This is a great video to come to when you need to get away from everyday life. Someone has put it together about 20 pictures of water scenes along with some relaxing water sounds. I hope you enjoy it, and …

Someone made this with the inspiration of Chris Tomlin’s song. . If you want a download go to Google video and search for Chris Tomlin Indescribable or follow this link:

Practical session. We spent our time calling and arrranging for interviews with different individual from different organisations with  Lower Broughton area. As a team we tried our best to organise ourselves so that it would be much easier to co-o                           rdinate with each other.

Feeling

Practical Section As Talk Broughton Community reporters, we learnt how to podcasting and editing our audio voices online. We upload to the blip. tv and then then publish it on our blog sites.

Hours Started from quarter past ten to one o’clock.

Feeling Section It beautiful and I felt more information more widsom being impact on us. It was great working in pairs. Minna was terrifc and I am always petrified with her zeal for knowledge especially in areas of  technology, she actually advanced.

What did  you enjoy? Seeing myself on the film interviewing people in the streets of Manchester. It brought joy on the whole class. Everyone laughed and there was applause at the end  of film. My colleagues, thought I was a real professional in that area hence it was my first interviewing people.

Any Suggestion? Suggested that we should meet here at 10:45 am on Wednesday before we go to The Women international Day.
